You may know me as guitarist for The Radiators, the funky-bluesy-rocky band from New Orleans that, for 33 1/3 years, engaged in one long, relentless Fishhead tour. We had a blast, played with some of the greatest names in music, and made life-long friends across the country. This past spring it was an honor to receive a Big Easy Lifetime Achievement Award, and named to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

The Rads may be retired, but I’m still at it and having more fun than ever, getting my rock n’ roll funk on with super-groups like the Voice of the Wetlands project (with Tab Benoit and Anders Osborne) and fellow Radiator Reggie Scanlan’s New Orleans Suspects.

But I’m most excited about the debut of my first acoustic record, “Old Bayou Blues” on Threadhead Records. This project features songs from my childhood that I’d sing with my family when I was growing up, as well as a handful of originals. I grew up in New Orleans, and every weekend we’d go to the country to visit relatives along Bayou Lafourche. My Paran Alton’s band, The Dufrene Brothers, played at clubs up and down the bayou, and on Sundays we’d gather to play music and sing in the living room.

On this CD I get to play with The Living Rumors, comprised of the great David Doucet of Beausoleil, Harry Hardin, classical violinist by day, funk-bluegrass fiddler by night, and the multi-talented and insightful Brian Seeger. br> Visit Musician's Gallery

Margie Perez, Singing for My Supper (Threadhead Records)Margie Perez first released Singing for My Supper last year, but she has re-released it recently with three new songs. A big part of the fun of Perez is that she’s so sweet in person and in her delivery, but her lyrics are far randier than that persona would lead you to expect. “When I watch you move / I think, ‘What’s one night of sin?’” she sings in the new “You Ain’t the One for Me.” Those songs are set in the relaxed grooves generated by her three-piece band, and the space they create leaves room for her to help make the songs funky.
